Student loans for certificate programs

cuStudentLoans - apply now for a private student loan

Generally speaking, certificate programs costs less than a degree program. However, that doesn’t mean they are free or low cost. Some of the certificate programs you might consider include:

  • Medical/Clinical Assistant
  • Health/Medical Assisting Services
  • Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training
  • Medical Insurance Coding
  • Cosmetology
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Medical Insurance/Biller
  • Ultrasound Technician
  • Massage Therapy

There are fewer scholarships available for certificate programs but if you look around, you can find scholarships for these programs as well. Don’t forget to check with the state government as well because there may be scholarships, grant programs for students seeking certification in some field.

Also check out professional organizations related to your field of interest.  Often these organizations provide grants and awards in small amounts that can help support your educational expenses.

However, you may want to seek a student loan opportunity as well.  You will still have to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine your eligibility. Even though the majority of student loan programs are designed to support degree programs, you may be able to find tuition assistance for your certification program as well.

Remember, as always, make sure that you consider the repayment side of student loan programs. You have to determine that before you sign the promissory note on that student loan you will be able to earn enough money after graduation to pay the loan back.
